At McPherson Square — Park Police has taken its first person into custody here at the encampment. He was an inhabitant in one of the last two tents here
The officer shot and killed Hargraves-Shird in the Brightwood Park neighborhood last summer, while responding to a 911 call regarding a shooting of two juveniles near Georgia Avenue and Longfellow Street NW
The Park Police just issued its first warning to everyone still in McPherson Sq. The park closed as of 10 am, per NPS. Anyone still in the park is doing so unlawfully, the announcer said, and will be subject to arrest. There are several homeless, aid workers and media still here
The removal of the encampment at McPherson Square begins now. Currently, the park is fenced off. Only advocates and the unhoused are allowed in. Dozens of people, protesters and passers-by, are watching from the outside

Around 3:45 p.m., an H8 Metrobus was hit by gunfire in the area of 16th and Irving streets, Northwest. One rider was on board the bus at the time of the shooting. No one was injured. The bus sustained damage to the windshield and door from the gunfire. per WUSA9
Great work by DC firefighters to save lives and stop the spread of this fire. The crews used multiple hose lines in 3 row homes and simultaneously conducted evacuations keeping this early morning fire from having tragic consequences
