Tonight a pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver on the 600 block of 600 Rhode Island Avenue NE. I extend my deepest condolences to the person's family. While an investigation is underway, it appears the sidewalk near this incident didn't have safe accommodations due to construction
Metro and DC Police are teaming up to increase officer presence at some stations during peak hours after recent shootings

At 1:39 AM a water rescue assignment responded to Rock Creek Parkway & Mass. Ave NW to assist @usparkpolicepio. Special Operations personnel in wet suits & life vests used a rope system and stokes basket to remove a deceased individual from the creek. DC firefighters
One person was found dead in Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway in D.C., U.S. Park Police said. Northbound traffic is being diverted to Massachusetts Avenue and southbound traffic is being diverted to Calvert Street
